She went on and on about how ChatGPT had “loved” SLOW NOODLES. I had no idea what to say. Does she not know how AI works, that it cannot love a book?

And then I realized: she didn’t read SN. She asked AI for a summary. Do I understand this right? Is this where we are headed? Good lord.

That’s not something I would ever say to an author, especially when the book is a memoir of extreme trauma and loss, but ok. I’ll absorb that, so long as Chantha doesn’t have to hear it. But one book club comment really floored me: “ChatGPT really liked the book!” she said. I was so confused.
