Suit Supply makes their Tux so it doesn't need cummerbund. Their Tux kit comes without one. The jacket is cut lower so there is no shirt showing. It's odd and I'm not sure if I like it. However, my Suit Supply shirt definitely wouldn't show my bottom button. Thanks for helping us understand clothing

Did I miss something that spurred the hate on chore coats? What are we doing here?

Along with all those demand side changes the whole industry expanded a ton in the last 5 years. So now they have more supply and a world consumer strapped for cash. It's not just Canada. Bourbon is a luxury good in the rest of the world and I'm sure demand is down everywhere.

Now stuff that you couldn't imagine finding on shelves is sitting there and no one is buying it at the new prices they charge. A lot of liquor stores are becoming museums as they refuse to sell bottles at reasonable MSRP because a few years ago they could still it for insane secondary prices.

I started drinking bourbon during the pandemic and got really into it. It's not just the tariffs and Canadian market issues. A ton of it is the prices on the not bottom shelf mixer stuff. Prices increased way more than inflation as they took advantage of the demand and popularity.

Yes but those countries have extremely high taxes and comparably low wages. It only sounds good because you compare it to your income and our housing prices.

I was thinking the same thing. Paying to get into a flea market, no matter how nice, just sucks.

I think that's something I really like and something I don't get anytime I buy a suit or jacket. It's definitely high on my list as I redo my wardrobe. Thank you for the historical context.

I definitely cringed at the RL field jacket rec once I saw those patches. Those patches are gross. Glad you suggest pulling them off. Very happy I have my Uncle's M65 from the 70s. We both even served under the same division so it's really accurate for me.

Unfortunately 90% is way out of my price range. Appreciate this regardless.

I can definitely relate to not knowing a damn thing about classic men's style. It's hard to imagine that someone with his VC background and connections doesn't have a clue. It's partially his poor taste and knowledge but also the state of accessibility to quality men's wear, even for the rich.

I think something many don't know and something I've only recently learned is that so many goods have gone down in quality right along with their price. We've learned how to make things more affordable but that often comes at the cost of quality, not always, but often.

Chomping at the bit for the fall article!

I totally agree, as he is one of the well off. However, that doesn't mean his administration is being asked or should be doing anything to ensure that niche craftspeople can maintain their livelihood. I would like them to but it's not the government's job.

He's not asking the admin to do anything. He's asking individuals if wealth to spend their money on quality to craftspeople can continue to make these things.

Wow never really looked into this as I never planned to get the new uniform since I'll be out before it's official.

You make good points as Hegseth has been preaching a return to a serious professional military focused on warfighting. The cancellation of all shaving profiles for medical reassessment. The change to fitness standards to make them even across sexes when it comes to combat MOS'.

I do not understand why people with this much money wouldn't have custom made clothing.
September 26, 2025 at 3:43 PM
Why do you make posts like that on Twitter when you could just put them on your blog. Then we could all read them normally.

You need a federal background check to buy a gun?
September 2, 2025 at 1:10 PM
You could apply that to many things. Personally I buy mine for what you said but I still do want to try different ones to see what's best for me.
September 2, 2025 at 1:09 PM
Wow you can genuinely see directly through it but would never know looking at it.

Amazing. I wish I could afford a craftsman like that. Excited for your next article on your blog.

I wonder if he had all his holdings in cash in January and then his financial advisors bought the dip. They'd have been dumb not too.

Wow have I loved these write ups. I'm also going to continue to give my buddy a hard time for not mentioning your blog sooner. If you did something like this for pants/shorts as well I would be ecstatic!
