I think what Nancy’s really trying to say is that she doesn’t want brown people. Forget a higher standard of living, just don’t give them diversity.

The irony is that the main focus of American politics has been the battle to create and maintain elite white power. The default, here, is the human nature to push back against that in order to reflect the reality of the American people.
