Disc Golf/Indian Food-centric suburbanism in Edmonton. They are 1000 years ahead of us.

God forbid somebody running for office actually be impacted by any of the problems they want to address

Deranged response from them as others have said.

Please keep at it - It's very hard to get good info about school board even as an engaged local politics follower. Any light that can be shed is very valuable.

Worth adding that even Dem voters broadly reacted against this stuff in elections.

Just one example here in Seattle progressives got wiped out in 2021 and we even elected a Republican City Attorney. in 2025 progs have dropped that stuff to focus on housing costs and look like they will win

The implications are clear: we need Disc Golf course abundance in America

Seattle progs were beaten largely because they pledged to defund SPD by 50% during a wave of visible disorder and crime. The insurgent leftist candidate for City Attorney was defeated by an actual Republican

Voters are decently pro-housing+transit policy but reacted to toxic leftist crime stances

Please just bypass our council w/ unsubvertible legislation

the moderate wing of Seattle civic elites being dedicated to nimbyism makes the path to a yimby mayor+council very difficult despite decent levels of public support for the single issue of building more housing

Need a YIMBY majority council I guess

Seems like it would be hard to pass an initiative repealing 'preserve park space' on the ballot
December 26, 2024 at 6:09 AM
Is it even legal under Initiative 42 to change it from a golf course to a park?

Certainly Senakw-style development would be ideal given the light rail stations at either end seem nearly totally wasted otherwise
December 26, 2024 at 4:16 AM
Why does Seattle have the current political alignment where the progressive-lane candidates tend to be more YIMBY/urbanist, and the moderate-lane candidates are more NIMBY? Could candidates who cut across these lines be viable or would they have trouble getting any groups to back them?

Demolition of the Kingdome 😭

Would need a decently complete and convenient network of protected lanes here in Seattle.

e-bike is a game-changer for the hilly terrain, but riding in unprotected lanes on arterials is extremely unpleasant so it's still a pretty spotty option
December 7, 2024 at 4:01 AM
Yes! Definitely essential for liberal and progressive YIMBYs and urbanists to take on board that disorder + perception that electeds condone it undermines every other goal and, fairly or unfairly, poisons the Democratic Party brand nationwide
December 5, 2024 at 2:20 AM
From a D4 voter, you and Rinck took fairly moderate stances on policing/disorder in addition YIMBY/urbanism.

IMO this is the way forward for YIMBY/progressive candidates in Seattle. Both on the merits but also like otherwise you just lose big to moderate cranks and even a Republican city attorney
