Probably not? The idea of a calculation engine is much much older. Our modern Von Neumann architecture comes from separating the idea of storage and decision-making with a communication layer between them, with the goal of understanding the brain. "Computer as simulation of brain" maybe?

The fundamental computer architecture was designed by a pair of neuroscientists, based on a specific part of cortex. From there, it's been a progressive back and forth of what "computation" means in silica vs. in meat.
