Clouds cleared up and we got some pretty amazing aurora before bed. I've never seen red aurora with my naked eye before but it was very visible tonight.

I've been sick all week (though testing indicates it's probably just a cold) but I still decided to put on my costume even though I'm not greeting any trick or treaters.

I recently injured my back, and it's really reduced the things I can do for a while. As a result, I've become my grandpa, spending large swaths of my day in the recliner in front of the tv with a cat at my side. I wish he was still here so I could call and tell him I'm officially old now.

Working on the display cases today. We're finally not having any guests until maybe Thanksgiving so I have a chance to open sort & organize more boxes and bins from the move last year. Having a large collection is a self-inflicted problem & a good one! but it's a lot of work sometimes.

On Monday, my brother unexpectedly showed up at my house (he lives about 200 miles away) with an arcade machine, which is what I said I wanted for my birthday but didn't expect. Now I already want another, but will have to content myself with our mini arcade right across from the new big boy.

My wife, @ravenmichiru.bsky.social took this excellent photo of a group of mushrooms that popped up in our backyard. They are delightful and I especially like that one grew with a tiny rock on its cap. #fungifriends

Just finished up many days of visits from friends and family. Biscuits was very popular and friendly, he even let 2 little girls pick him up and carry him around like a doll. It's hard to imagine he lived on the streets 4 months ago. #cats

We keep most of our collection & shop stuff in our finished basement. Lately my beautiful son, Gandalf Pickles, has been grabbing unsecured bubble wrap & carrying it upstairs. Today he decided bring an entire tote worth of bubble wrap and a big Luna plush that's about the same size as he is. #cats
