Well he could actually say it, instead of distancing himself from the words and saying ondirectly "yeah I stand by it".

To me the nuance is that this response is a walkback typical of populist characters.

I think that the shifts in frontline have slowed down considerably and have been increasingly more costly to russia. It cannot keep the war covert at home AND keep feeding people to the meatgrinder.

For all intents and purposes, russia is being far more and more deeply attritted than Ukraine.

The Soviets also did not de-occupy the land between Germany and russia. It aligned with their imperial-era expansionist goals and revanchist ideals and, like opportunists, they took it.

Ask anyone from post-soviet states, all will tell you occupation delayed them culturally, socially, economically

I think it's Impossible to know. However, given how important matters of host-guest relations were in the time of the WW1 period, it would have been greatly appreciated and taken in a positive light.

To be clear, the Soviets occupied Germany first, looted, raped and pillaged AND covered it all up.

No worries!
It's because of the knock-on effects of the Versailles treaty that we include aggressors in negotiations, but let's not be under illusions: it's only slightly more than symbolic.

russia WILL have to concede defeat, eventually.
1.5million lost, billions in USD wasted, numerous crimes
November 23, 2025 at 1:30 PM
To note: Germany was not allowed to negotiate on the Versailles Treaty.

It's this humilliation that prompted a very nationalistic feeling of anti-guilt that became the basis for the Nazi Party (that and anti-communism).

Ideally we want Russia to admit guilt, pay reparations, get out of Ukraine and be left to deal with the internal fallout. Probably will collapse.

No. They signed an Armistice which basically meant an end to armed conflict. Woodrow Wilson made a speech and proposed 14 points for peace, which were the basis for the Conferences in Paris that produced the Treaty of Versailles which didn't just define the end of the war but humiliated the aggresor

What a weird question. Are you trying to go for a "gotcha"?

Included, of course. Did you forget that Wilhelm Keitel signed the German Instrument of Surrender?

I'd say you looked at 4chan conspiracy theories and decided "nuh uh".

Which is kind of the same thing 🤣

The release of Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and all people forcibly relocated from their homes and held in concentration/filtration camps.

Return of bodies.

Paying for reparations, reconstruction.

Delivery of criminals for justice/trials.

In this case it's clear the terms are the current contact line or (preferably) the 2014 contact line.

Ideally it would be the pre-invasion 2013 borders.

But as with anything involving russia, there's the return of kidnapped children, babies and adults all.

The repatriation of Ukrainians.
November 22, 2025 at 9:23 PM
Because the last time someone was excluded it was in Versailles and that made things very unfavourable, and left the defeated plundered to the bone and saddled with debt.

They're included not to negotiate, but to define (by reaction) what could be too far.

Forcing your allies to agree to a half-witted plan proposed by the Kremlin....

With friends like these....

Forgot to quote the article:

bsky.app/profile/anto...
US Ambassador to UN Mike Waltz has stated that America is ready to impose additional economic sanctions on Russia&continue providing military support to Ukraine if the Kremlin does not agree to a ceasefire and begin genuine talks

"We’ve proposed generous terms for Russia, including sanctions relief
November 21, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Seems to be the point but Mike Waltz seems to think otherwise, which tells us that the US is not on the same page even diplomatically.
November 21, 2025 at 9:10 PM
It's also worth noting that of course their revenue is collected by the russian govt either directly or indirectly and goes towards funding the genocide of the Ukrainian nation.

It's long been known but hidden than games such as World of Tanks, WarThunder, Tarkov and Space Marine 2 are all made and held by russian or russian-aligned developers— inevitably they all stay quiet on the invasion of Ukraine, and the ones that do speak out about it do nothing beyond performance.
