yeah i really like him, even tho he's not as admirable as Ilan Pappe. his Invention of the Jewish People is good too, i think he manages to defend the Khazar thesis without being racist with it and there's a lot of interesting stuff about Late Antique Judaism

think the latter part is important cuz i think too often the actual practiced lifeworld of liberation theology (when presented to/by amerikkkans) is subsumed in academic chungus liberalism and loses what gives it it's vigor. he seems to carry those experiences with him into his current ministry
