Yes but having a jerk as a main character can be ok if there is at least one character that I care about or latch on to but out of the gate when everyone is horrible just does my head in.

I've really enjoyed the mods that let you start off someone else (not the prisoner). My fav so far has been the hunter. You start off with almost nothing and have to work for everything so it's harder at the start but it a great sense of freedom just being a nomad out in the wilds.

I think many new games forget how the quite/peaceful parts can be just as dramatic as the most exciting battles. Skyrim really exemplifies this.
