Valid, and it doesn't help when it's currently being scalped for upward of $1000! You can build a PC for that much. I'll wait to see more of Hyrule Warriors and make my judgment then

The way I see it, meta be damned, whether you love the character or not, that should be the most important factor. I pulled Jiaoqiu simply out of adoration, and then he turned out to be Acheron's new best friend. I say go for the big funny dragon!
