Music and gaming enthusiast with a focus on the 80s to the present. Husband, father, sci-fi nerd, progressive. Based in West Central Florida.
Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb died earlier today. McCarthy was one of my favorite singers and had one of the best voices I've ever heard.

I was lucky enough to see Ebb in 2010. It was a fantastic amalgamation of why I fell in love with industrial dance music.

This one hurts.

Finally got around to finishing Supercade, and here is the next book on the pile. Originally published in 2001, this edition is a recent version from 2021 that clocks in at around 600 pages. Apparently there's also a volume 2 to cover modern gaming. So much to explore.

One of Amber and I's favorite games to play together. I feel really lucky to get to play old games on original hardware. It brings a lot of charm but also makes the halcyon days of youth not so far removed from the present.

My wife and I decided to move the old TV and retro consoles from a corner of our bedroom into the living room proper. We now have two TVs side by side but in all honesty it's pretty great. Extra cozy.

Starting my fourth book of the year, and this splash page jumps right out at me. When you consider all the horrible things technology has wrought upon us these last few years, I must admit I now agree with this sentiment.

Somehow I never noticed this press sheet was included with my Dessau LP from 1989. Pretty cool.

My hi-fi corner. A slice of sanity in an otherwise chaotic world. It's truly a classic and timeless luxury. I hope you all reconnect with music on a visceral, psychic level.

Mouse Trap for Atari, by Coleco. You're a rat in a maze trying to evade three adorable cats You can change the layout of the maze a couple different ways mid-game. You can also choose when to activate your energizer pellets to kill your pursuers. No one reading will ever play it, but I do recommend.

Grabbed three more Atari titles today. These have been languishing at a local vintage toy shop for nearly a decade. I decided today to snatch them as since I've gotten into Atari I haven't seen these for sale anywhere. All interesting games.

My next book. For better or worse, I have several to read first before I can make my way over to this title. Better to have too many, yeah?

The Firehose of Relentless Bullshit continues to spew without fail here in the US. I'm looking to books and other forms of diversions to focus my time. Right now I'm studying video game history. I don't feel comfortable posting anything personal on Meta anymore.

It's a Metroid night.

Just finished my first book of the year. This is a treasure trove of interviews, pixel art and perspectives on various games for Atari's 8 bit consoles. Also featured are more recent homebrew titles, a couple of which Atari officially released last year. I now have a few more games on my want list.

Jeremy had his Christmas performance last night at River Ridge. He did wonderful as usual. He really cleans up nice. It's crazy how big he's getting.

The last couple of chapters were a joyless fucking slog, but I've finished Dead Space 2 from 2011. Will probably play it again as I've unlocked so many goodies the second run will be comparatively easy. Fantastic game. 10/10.

Two more impulsive, pay minute additions to our tree this year. Our tree is reaching peak nerd and I'm here for it.

Hard to believe, but today marks two years married to my best friend, partner, confidante, co-conspirator and my player two. Love you Amber!

This year's Christmas Tree and a few of the ornaments I added this year. Amber is particularly pleased with it, which delights me to no end.

Finished Dead Space a few days ago, now a few chapters in on Dead Space 2. I thought the first one was fantastic and this sequel progresses the story beautifully. My younger brother has great taste in games.
