CNN’s Jason Carroll was zip-tied and escorted away—for reporting the news. But they claimed he wasn’t under arrest?

Why are they shooting rubber bullets at and silencing journalists? We still have a First Amendment.

Regarding chemical castration, I haven't had a chance to see all the coverage, but I do feel we should mention Alan Turing.
Also wider attempts to manage behaviour chemically - e.g. anti-depressants.
I had a terrible time with Sertraline myself.
A deep topic I fear is being played for the crowd.

I spent my 20s as a revolutionary and I was just reminded of one of my observations from back then - it's easier to empower the already radicalised than to radicalise those who are already empowered.
Spend your time wisely.
Stop trying to convert privileged people.

Angela Rayner is wrong. As I working person, I do in fact want handouts.
However, I am instead forced to sell my labour to survive.

Just thinking about what's happening now with billionaires and media outlets new and old, including the Observer, the Washington post and Twitter. A phrase from battlestar galactica springs to mind: "all of this has happened before and will happen again"

A quick thought on suicide prevention born of personal experience:
I don't like the slogan "a short term solution to a long term problem", for me this misses the point. When I was on the edge, all time frames collapsed entirely and there was no tomorrow, no next week. I have an alternative...

1. Do puzzles
2. Play with increment
3. Play on lichess
4. Play locally over the board
5. Map your openings and track your performance
6. Play the same openings in different time controls
7. Find your weaknesses and study
8. Make friends with other chess improvers

Nothing justifies Hamas or the IDF committing war crimes. Yet, extremists on each side do use the other's actions to justify theirs. So condemning war crimes on both sides is right.
The right to defend yourself doesn't equal the right to commit war crimes and yes, the devil is in the detail.
