Because that finish is Honda Covic Pearl White. Hector and his spoon engines should be jealous.

Ok no wait… how the fuck is 1986 only 16 years before 2002? Like the math adds up sure, but the 1980s were nowhere close to the 2000s. I remember playing Vice City thinking “ahh, the sights and sounds of a bygone era” and feeling it was a lifetime away, not just some sub-adult’s entire lifespan. 😵‍💫

Oh my god that sucks. I hate when I have to go back and redo major progress on a project due to some dumbass computer shenanigans. No heartbreak quite like it.

Occasionally as a result of having covid a while back. Not in a long time though now that I think of it.

That’s funny, it was exactly my first thought. I’m not here for politics

That’s a funny way to spell Superman 64.

Having recently replayed CE anniversary I have to say it felt… old. Like, still fun, but without the polish that came after in future refinements of the franchise and FPS games as a whole. I just… I do get tired of rebuying the same game. If true I hope it is also the ONLY time a remake is made.

So if you’ve stayed with me this long, thank you. Yes, I truly believe AI tools are a part of the future of every medium and it’s not going away. I also believe wholeheartedly that no body of great work will come of AI without true artistic vision knowledge, and skill. 8/8

Let’s be real, for most artists so much begins with imitation starting out. And many widely praised works have have seen success off the back of someone else’s idea because the artist has made it something entirely new or intriguing, and I believe a similar turning point with AI is inevitable. 7/8

They’ll start to wonder how they can get better results. How to direct the tool in ways they never considered. They’ll learn what makes the best movies, the most gripping novels, the most thought-provoking paintings… and in doing so become better artists. 6/8

But make no mistake - once those users tire of their fanfic and want to make something of themselves, they will have a leg up. They’ll have seen their vision in a thousand different drafts. They’ll have learned through trial and error what it is they love and hate about the results they get. 5/8

To make anything resembling true art using A/I tools, you NEED to be creative AND skilled. You need to understand composition, staging, framing, lighting, nuance.. and direct the tool in ways that the average user, preoccupied with creating what is essentially fan fiction can not. 4/8

I have friends who are strictly no-AI. That’s good, we need your voice in this discussion. We also need people who are all in. We need to understand the limits, the potential, and the dangers all in one. So while absorbing all of that discussion, one thing has become clear to me: 3/8

It’s also a polarizing one. And before you hit my comments or DMs please understand this: I am an artist. I love art in all forms. I pay artists for their work. I’ll never hold the position that artists should be replaced. I hope that holds your attention a moment longer. 2/8

Ultimately I enjoy it. Like you, I left feeling confused and unsure… as if not having a game to play along with the animation was making it hard for me to appreciate what was going on in a way if that makes sense? But since some time has passed, it’s really not terrible. I’d play this game.

Pttthhhht. No AI podcast would ever touch Superman 64’s ring levels. You’re not in any danger here.
