"If you oppose DEI, use the full phrase. Be brave to say, 'I oppose diversity, equity&inclusion.' Bonus if you admit the part you despise.DEI acronym transforms it into a thought-terminating cliche. So be proud & be specific. Let everyone know if it's diversity you hate, equity, or being inclusive."

I had a screaming fit in my sleep last night, and I remembered what it was all about. Someone was throwing rocks at me. Asking #autistics do you have a recurring bad dream?

I make sure that my #autisticadult clients lead our team meetings, even though we need to text back and forth, use AAC or rearrange the agenda.

Another lovely dream is for ALL children to learn to communicate and be with each other using different types of methods, including AAC, braille, visuals or iconography.
"I have a lovely dream in my head. It looks like this: Children get exposed to AAC [augmentative and alternative communication] as soon as there’s a glimmer of possibility they might need it. ALL kids who qualify for early intervention."

Parents of #autistic kids need a sensory regulation toolkit as well. Do you have one? In my bag I always carry: Earplugs, metal fidget rings and lavender scented handkerchief. What’s in yours?

It’s so important to protect ourselves from triggering posts, they are bandwidth stealers & they are making us feel self-doubt. Getting into rants is not how we can solve problems. It’s a trap to distract us from our important work in building a better community.
Autistic advice on interpersonal interactions: "When you come across a heated conversation on the internet, it’s important to step back & assess the situation. Remove yourself from the situation. Even if you’re not involved, it can have a bad impact on you."
