Why is it, that it’s ok for people to constantly apologize for their child being autistic or autistic people apologizing for who they are, but nobody ever apologizes to the autistic person for the society we are trying to live in? Or how they make us feel as autistic people?

Today, the person that figured out I was autistic, my wife, is divorcing me, because I am autistic. It feels like total betrayal. It feels like my life is over. It’s the lowest point of a life filled with low points. The struggle is real, and NT’s have no idea how bad autistic people suffer.

There are a few people i wish would read this and then maybe they might understand there are some things an autistic person has no control over.

Autistic sleep problems. Brain doesn’t shut off to go to sleep and after a few short hours of restless slumber, your brain picks right up where it left off. This renders you unable to get back to sleep. Any NT out there wanna trade brains for a day?

On a positive note, got my 63’ Falcon running today. Got a much needed win. 😎

As an autistic person I struggle to get “wins” in life. There are days it feels like even the smallest things are out to get me, which leads to a higher probability of meltdowns and shutdowns. Fun.

Failed relationships as an autistic adult are the only way they seem to end up. The love of my life that figured out I was autistic is also the one that asked for a divorce because of it. I completely understand why suicide rates are higher in autistic people than NT’s. My kids keep me going.💙😭💔

Here’s an example of how life feels as an autistic person. You try to pull open a door for five minutes and finally give up out of frustration. Then a neurotypical person walks up and pushes the door right open. That’s how most interactions feel every single day.

Later in life diagnosis of being autistic is both a blessing and a curse. At least now I know why my life has gone the way it has. Stay tuned for more insights on what life is like as a late diagnosed adult.
