Gunsmith and Small Arms Repairer. DMs are open for gun questions/purchasing advice. I do not care about political affiliation, you should own a gun.
You will penetrate all the drywall in your house, AR-15 or not. Box of truth debunked this a decade ago, all rounds fired except .22 lr will go through at least 12 pieces of 5/8 sheetrock. .22 LR will go through at least 6.

Here, for example, is a wound from 7.62 Tokarev to the ear. Not exactly major damage.

No, only the previous series of Colt AR-15s were. The Match Target AR-15 series were not covered by the ban as they were compliant with the ban, and all Colt and other companies had to do was just follow the law, which they did. Bushmaster for example made and sold lots of these rifles.

Pistol grips were allowed. You could not exceed more than one feature or it would be an assault weapon. With stuff like most AKs and ARs all you had to do was not have a flash hider on the muzzle.

Automatic riflemen have been a thing since WW1, when man portable machine guns were first used in a large scale. It's not a new concept.

Alright so you're a Nazi sympathizer, absolutely unreal.

Not trying to be one of those "well akshually" guys, but you can have stuff that are considered to be assault rifles under US state laws. They're even non-restricted firearms and are compatible with detachable AK-47 style magazines if you pay a gunsmith for some work.

AR-15s were legal during the Clinton AWB.

Here is the ATFs own data from the AWB era regarding AR-15 manufacturing.

Only clones of the Colt AR-15. Clones being that they had to have the exact same feature set. Colt and other companies could still sell AR-15s as long as they were not the same ones they were selling previously, so they committed flash hiders and bayonet lugs. Bushmaster did the same thing.

You could still buy brand new AR-15s, with pistol grips, during the ban. It just couldn't have a flash hider, bayonet lug, and the telescopic stock had to be pinned without a quick adjust capability.

Untrue. You can buy new ones as long as they use a stripper clip system like the DS-15

Cry more. There is nothing you can do.
July 29, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Nah, they should have access to them. Civilians should own military small arms.
July 29, 2025 at 6:33 PM
You can just buy assault rifles and have fun with them, and no one can stop you.
July 24, 2025 at 8:21 PM
It would do this. It makes an incredibly tiny wound in the ear.

Colt M4s can be semi auto only, Colt has been selling M4s to law enforcement with the LE prefix for almost 30 years that are not capable of full auto.

As for proof that I'm not a "middle eastern troll", here are photos from a gun shop I went to while I was taking some vacation time last week. Pretty alright prices, don't you think?

Some people on here are crazy. All I do is point out a historical inaccuracy and then I get a guy wishing me death by the dudes I work for. It's very weird.

The Militia Act of 1903, the bill that created the modern national guard, specifically says that "the militia shall consist of every able-bodied male citizen.....who is more than 18 and less than 45 years of age"
July 10, 2025 at 4:26 PM
This was even legal after the AWB passed. Defining assault weapon (in civilian context and not military context) is actually very, very hard to do without screwing over lots of people.
June 3, 2025 at 4:37 PM
The only "M4" used in the attack was not even an M4, it's an older Colt Carbine that is very similar to an Israeli IDF Carbine.
May 16, 2025 at 2:37 PM
Oh they absolutely had dreams of insane future weapons. These dudes bankrolled a 120 shot multi barrel gun for deck clearing that would only stop firing once it ran out of ammo.

My M4A1 mixmaster is nearing completion. Good gun.

There's been a lot of talk about "What would Jesus think about guns" and it is worth noting that there is a chance that actual, historical Jesus may have been aware of them. The first ever gun was designed about 230 years before the birth of Jesus by Archimedes, and was in some writings afterwards.
