More than 2,000 autistic people and people with learning disabilities are being held in inpatient units in England, despite repeated government pledges to move them into community care.

Work on the £4 million development is expected to start next month and will, hopefully, be completed by the end of 2025.

Today, in our 45th anniversary year, we have launched a capital appeal to help fund the farm development, which will serve as a training centre for autistic and neurodivergent people as well as a visitor attraction and working farm.

Sir Peter made the commitment to NEAS, describing our plans for New Warlands Farm as “inspirational and life-changing”.

Now, the philanthropist is challenging other businesses to match his pledge, urging them to “be part of something very special” and get the appeal up to its target of £1 million.
