People organized locally. The Authors Guild fought it in the courts, and we saw firsthand how communities, libraries, teachers, students, and parents came together—speaking out, showing up at board meetings, mobilizing.

Ohio rejected book ban candidates across 1,800+ school board seats. Pennsylvania completely flipped boards that had banned LGBTQ+ books. Michigan chose library access over censorship.
