Oh yeah I get where you're coming from with this analogy now. That makes sense.
January 23, 2026 at 6:45 AM
yeah. at least when people have watched your videos enough / followed your game enough / whatever else, they're more likely to stay and not have as low of an attention span since they're invested in what you're making, but getting those people in the first place is hard.
January 23, 2026 at 6:40 AM
I mean I feel like emojis are relatively harmless, just might turn a couple people off originally, while microtransactions are hurting people's experiences with games and can cause gambling addictions and that kind of thing, so it's not the best comparison to make, but then again idk any better one.
January 23, 2026 at 6:37 AM
That makes sense, I haven't used my socials to promote something that people would pay for before so I don't know how to grab attention when it really matters, and even with my YouTube videos I haven't made enough edited ones with intros to have made a layout for grabbing attention.
January 23, 2026 at 6:33 AM
yeah it sucks how low people's attention span is nowadays. I'm not exactly sure how you could talk in a quick attention-grabbing manner without sounding like AI, since I feel like sounding like AI would probably turn tons of people away who don't background check that it's a real non-AI game / dev
January 23, 2026 at 6:30 AM
I mean that makes sense, especially with the only 300 max character count max for bluesky, so you can't talk more in depth w/o making a thread or putting all your text on another site / alt text. 100 pages on the game would mainly only make sense on the steam page, but that's likely also limited.
January 23, 2026 at 6:28 AM
I see, it's just coincidentally the same sort of way AI talks since AI is made for you to keep you using it and paying attention endlessly, and for people to buy your game you need people to pay attention as well.
January 23, 2026 at 6:25 AM
It's like featuring every warning sign of AI you pick up on, "not just X, but Y", overusing the word "chaos", and lots of emojis. Not sure if this is intentional satire, coincidence, or if you're relying on AI to write about your game even though you're the dev so you'd know what to write w/o AI.
January 23, 2026 at 6:20 AM
(referring to the first sentence) not the classic ai ahh phrase "It's not just X, it's Y!" I find it quite silly to see classic AI phrases like that, em dashes, emojis in headers, etc., in places that are obviously not using AI. Reminds me of actual human artists mimicking ai slop's look for funsies
January 23, 2026 at 6:13 AM
Yeah I think the melodies of the original songs are pretty clear to spot within these versions for me as well, even though they've been quite obfuscated by combining the corresponding song (i.e. LNS w1 is made with FNI w1) with itself at 116.66% speed (by loading SK2 in 60 Hz state in FNI).
January 23, 2026 at 5:43 AM
Although the character Dana himself is probably copyright, so trying to avoid breaking copyright when making a fan game is a fruitless endeavor, I just think it's more fulfilling to make most of it from scratch. If I were trying to rely on prebuilt code and sprites, I'd just learn ROM hacking.
January 23, 2026 at 3:53 AM
Even though I'm doing all of the sprites and most of the code fully on my own, I'd rather use the least copyrighted FNI content as possible.
January 23, 2026 at 3:52 AM
which I don't know if that's necessarily bad perse, but it might be copyright-iffy, I'm already using all the SFX from original FNI (unless you or the Atari remake team are recreating those too???, in which case ig I'd use them).
January 23, 2026 at 3:52 AM
For the cutscene / map / grandma menu / edit mode songs they'd likely be either the original songs or your versions you made for the Atari if the team working on the Atari remake is fine with that, since that way it's all one composer working on the OST instead of part original FNI and part new.

Reasons part 2: w11 is the only bonus world in this game and thus should have a unique song, and Druidle is going to be such an intense longer fight in my fangame that it should have a unique theme.
January 23, 2026 at 3:42 AM
For the reasons for each song being unique: as they're all different world themes, they should have pretty different songs from the original, but feel free to take big inspo from the placeholder demo #1 ost for making it, as these are already quite different.
January 23, 2026 at 3:41 AM
This is the playlist of the first 4 songs I made with this method (w1, w2, w3, and w10 / boss level) When its done in ~2027 there'd probably be 12 songs unique to it, w1-11 themes + final boss theme. www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Maybe when you finish the whole Fire 'N Ice (for the Atari) OST, you could help make the Lava 'N Snow OST, since I do like the direction of the songs I made by glitching out the save states in Fire 'N Ice, but the specifics aren't great, due to glitches, lag, and being too repetitive or not enough.
January 23, 2026 at 2:57 AM
Also it's funny being known as the "Fire 'N Ice expert" when I've barely started in what I want to do in Fire 'N Ice, like yeah I've done the most speedruns, have played all the versions, and made a single challenge run video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFyX...), but I have ~100 more video ideas to do.
Can I beat Fire 'N Ice at 3x speed?

Yeah I like it a lot! I enjoy seeing your interpretations of the FNI OST since they have a lot of added pizazz that makes it sound more like a reimagining / remix than a bar for bar recreation, which is a good thing imo. :3

apparently I actually do have a capture card but it was already packed away so I'll have to wait until I unpack after moving in ~2 months to record the RPG Maker MV game playthrough
January 22, 2026 at 5:07 AM
don't have a capture card though so I'd either have to get one or point a camera at my switch
January 22, 2026 at 2:06 AM
I'm not exactly sure where my 2DS is (I know it isn't fully lost, but I don't know the specific location in my house), but I know the main first game I made is saved on there, and the 3 games on MV are fully saved. I think the one I'd play is the first MV game that's based off the main Fes game.
January 22, 2026 at 2:05 AM
Yeah I did it on the switch version. I actually made 3? games on MV and 2? on RPG Maker Fes (2DS), so I'm quite experienced with the basics of RPG Maker. I knew that you could head behind the trees surrounding the environment in your game and for some reason thought I'd find an Easter egg back there
