Erin Johnson writes magical, mysterious romances with heart and humor. When she’s not plotting trouble, she’s traveling, teaching Pilates, or napping with her dogs.
That’s such a great feeling, especially after a quiet year. Sometimes books just find their moment. Have you noticed anything similar happening with other titles?
January 24, 2026 at 12:24 PM
That’s a great way of putting it. Are you published?
January 24, 2026 at 12:22 PM
That’s lovely to see, congrats! Backlist love always feels extra special.
Do you have any sense of what brought new readers to it?
January 24, 2026 at 11:58 AM
That makes a lot of sense, the idea that the place sets the rules for how they’re allowed to want each other is really compelling. It explains why the intimacy feels so charged. Do you ever choose a setting specifically because of the constraints it creates?
January 24, 2026 at 11:51 AM
That really comes through in how you describe it, tender and complicated, with intimacy that actually carries emotional weight. Those are the stories that linger.

Do you usually start with the relationship dynamics first, or does the story spark from a specific moment like that late-night watch?
January 23, 2026 at 11:49 AM
That’s really good to hear 💛 Anxiety easing, even a little can feel like coming up for air.

Wishing you a gentle, creative re-entry as you dive into those story changes. What part of the revision are you most excited about right now?
January 23, 2026 at 11:43 AM
Aww, the kids look adorable!
January 23, 2026 at 11:39 AM
Now I’m curious too. Are these craft questions, publishing questions, or spicy romance questions?
January 23, 2026 at 11:37 AM
That sounds perfect 😌✨ Cozy small towns are my weekend weakness.
What kind of vibes does Franklin Notch lean toward, mystery, romance, found family, or a bit of everything?
January 23, 2026 at 11:29 AM
That is nice, are you published?
January 23, 2026 at 11:25 AM
Yes, I’ve published quite a few over the years, if you do not mind, can we continue in DMs?
January 22, 2026 at 9:23 PM
That is nice
January 22, 2026 at 9:14 PM
It feels very true to life, sometimes rest saves you, sometimes it feels like the wrong choice even when it isn’t. That kind of hindsight tension is great for character depth.
Does Heiden’s regret linger and shape how she makes decisions later, or does she come to fully trust that pause in the end?
January 22, 2026 at 9:13 PM
That’s such a healthy approach. Meeting yourself where you are instead of where you “think” you should be makes a huge difference.

Do you have any small rituals or habits that help quiet the negative self-talk when it starts creeping in?
January 22, 2026 at 9:08 PM
😂 Completely understandable, some books are best kept under lock and key like forbidden artifacts.

Do you ever think about keeping it as a reminder of how far you’ve come, or is it destined to stay hidden forever?
January 21, 2026 at 9:07 PM
That is nice, are you published?
January 21, 2026 at 3:53 PM
😂 Oh wow… the cursed artifact edition. That’s the kind of thing that lives rent-free forever.

At least you can laugh about it now… mostly. Does it still make you wince when you see it on the shelf?
January 21, 2026 at 2:42 PM
😂 Oh NO, yeah, that one earns a full emergency response. Nothing snaps a reader out of a moment faster than an accidental anatomy detour.

Did it at least get fixed quickly, or did you have to live with it haunting you for a while?
January 21, 2026 at 2:04 PM
😂 Oh that’s the best stage. The mental gymnastics must be Olympic-level. How long do you let him cling to the denial before reality finally dropkicks him?
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 PM
That mix is perfect. Chosen pauses show who they are; forced ones show what they’re made of. Those moments of decision under pressure are so revealing, do they ever regret stopping, or pushing on?
January 21, 2026 at 12:54 PM
That makes it even better 😄 those stolen moments of calm hit so much harder when the world is actively hostile.

Do you let your characters choose those pauses, or are they forced on them by the chaos around them?
January 21, 2026 at 11:49 AM
Such an important reminder 💛 Writing already asks so much of us.
How do you practice being kind to yourself on the tough writing days?
January 21, 2026 at 11:44 AM
Absolutely this 🙌 Typos are part of the process, not a moral failing.
Do you find they bother you more than they ever bother readers?
January 21, 2026 at 11:43 AM
That denial phase is always so fun to play with 😄
Is it willful disbelief, or has the world done a really good job of hiding yokai from them so far?
