The tree swallows have made an appearance early this year! They refuse to hold still so no chance of getting a clear photo with my phone camera. It’s enough for me, though, to watch them frolic and play

This European ground beetle paid me a visit while I was loading firewood into the woodshed this afternoon; the wind was pretty intense today and I assume he was taking shelter. I've seen lots of these critters around but never one this big!

Spent probably way too much time last night listening to and then reading about American woodcocks aka timberdoodles. Are they related to labradoodles…? And what of snickerdoodles?

Japanese baseball is mentioned quite a bit in THE ORCHID ROOM, specifically the former Nippon Professional Baseball team, the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes (now the Orix Buffaloes). The hat pictured is the very one so frequently mentioned, belonging to John Murakami, Farren's late father. #iykyk
