This is one of the central reasons why only specific immigrants are being targeted for deportation under the current administration. There are good/worthy immigrants, and there are bad immigrants, and their skin color+country of origins plays a huge role in determining their worth.

as immigrants of colors we are taught to censure our own kind and make fun of them if they fail at assimilating. See how many second gen stand up comics have built their careers on making fun of their parents' accents and ways of life.
