If you’re wondering why Trump may be talking about purges and revolution in Korea, some MAGA folk have been trying for months to get Trump to help impeached and imprisoned former Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol who has espoused election fraud conspiracies after declaring martial law last December
Laura Loomer, extremist MAGA personality with influence in the White House, is also publicly claiming Lee Jae-myung’s victory was the product of communist Chinese influence. Lee had been very supportive of the alliance with the US but this cannot sit well with him on day 1 of his administration.

Retrieval of service member remains is just one of the reasons the U.S. government should continue to find ways to engage North Korea. The remains of approximately 5,300 service members are still in North Korea.
