phone angle of the same bird, it sort of was feeding like a plover or a robin with a stop-then-dart like feeding style. i love this bird :) 🪶

these birds are rare on the east coast but a few show up annually in brooklyn during the winter, i saw this one in the exact same spot i found one last year. 🪶

american pipits are somewhat common in my area of new york but it’s quite rare to actually see them on the ground, usually they just sing “pi-pit” as they fly over you, was very happy to see this one about a month ago along with about 12 others

maybe one of the best birds i saw this year was this extremely cooperative american golden plover at sandy hook in late october, uncommon on the east coast but small numbers show up regularly mixed in with the much more common black bellied plover

few weeks ago at jamaica bay i found two lapland longspurs that flew over me while calling, quite uncommon in that area and a really exciting experience, first time i ever saw this species too
