The ground split even further between them, its crumbling edges collapsing into the endless sea of light below.

A flicker of understanding crossed his eyes, like he was putting several pieces together. “You... You’re speaking Atlian,” he said at last. Although he had a notable accent, he switched languages with seemingly little effort. His throat bobbed as he swallowed thickly. “Am I in Atlania?”
