Welp, Google doesn’t know them without the sign and with only returns a post on Insta with a cheesy virtue signaling series of hashtags. So likely AI and not altered stock. But it DOES show that computers can’t replace professional creatives…yet. Sigh.

There’s a lot of AI in that. The colors not matching on the sign and the weird curves. I’m not even sure it’s AI. Might just be bad photoshop, and it’s my job to know this kind of thing. But either way it’s definitely not the original image. If there is one?

Follow there accounts and those of others on the ground to see how you can support. Keep watching their shows unless they ask you not to, keep subscriptions unless they ask you to cancel.

I agree, I also think, and a lot of this was my takeaway from the essay - that it needs to be more than just the sane men. I think some of us need to be willing to talk to those sane men about this to both encourage and support them when we ask them to be brave on this.

And I know he's watched people he cares about vanish into this space and be baffled by it as well.

But I also know so many men with excellent role models who've turned out to be exceptional humans. I'd count my husband in this bunch and see him as plenty masculine while not in any way shape or form threatened by my successes or existence or any woman for that matter.

I wish I knew the answer, I think the essay above is the first public text I've read that really starts looking for resolve. I know men who've had what I'd deem to be excellent role models and have struggled immensely and exerted that struggle on the women in their lives in abusive ways.

Just a quick note to say it appears the author is now on Bluesky and I just wanted to say thanks to @christineemba.bsky.social for writing this and doing the work to help us move towards a better public discourse on the topic. Really fantastic piece.

I appreciate your candor. I'd like to think better public discourse would help guys in similar positions to yours. I've spent my life in very male dominated spaces and know what it feels like to be othered by the spaces around me. I definitely know I don't want to be the source of that for anyone.

I've been having conversations across the internet and in my life since reading this earlier today. Thank you both for the work you've done here and for helping me understand what happened to some of the men I've lost and loved in my family and friend circles that seemed to come out of nowhere.
