Reader extraordinaire 😁. French, European, Anglophile. Loves reading books, talking about books and buying books. Can also be found baking and walking my dogs when not working for the NHS.
I read Seascraper by Benjamin Wood - amazing and One Boat by Jonathan Buckley which was just ok I would say.

It is quirky but not all of his books are. The only ones I have seen in translation are The Henry Pick Mystery and Charlotte. Both are great. Definitely recommend him. He is prolific and brilliant.

I can definitely do the first as I will be on leave and can try and do the 24th if I am home on time which I should be.

The French novel is this one. I am a big fan of Foenkinos so loving it.

Am good thank you. Had a little foray in Croatia, Austria and Burma recently. For some reason I have also read a number of Norwegian novels in the last few weeks. All 3 amazing. #devonbookhour

Not read any of the shortlist although I will read the winner whatever it is. I did read 2 on the long list though.

Wow … that is a lot of books. I had 4 on the go last week: poetry, a non-fiction, a written novel and an audiobook but I felt it was a bit much. Right now am just reading one French novel although will start my audiobook on my commute to north Devon tomorrow.

Books have been my companions forever and I can’t imagine my life without them.

That is brilliant news.

Me too. Loved both but I think Silver Sparrow is better. I just could not put it down although it is about 6 months ago now that I read it.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe a Friday then as I am off every other one at the minute. Will find some dates. #devonbookhour

Am only just at the start but essentially it is about moving away from absolutism and taking the time to listen to each other rather than wanting people to be ‘perfect’ or risk being shunned. Social media very good at being black or white #devonbookhour

Look interesting. Not read either. Let us know how you get on.

Sounds good. Let me know when you are back from your travels. #devonbookhour

Interesting. I am also reading a NF ‘Six conversations were scared to have’ by @theguiltyfeminist.bsky.social … fascinating about why discourse is so polarised currently and how we can try and redress this. #devonbookbour

Lucky you and yes please and I will try not to keep it 5 years this time 😁. #devonbookhour Thanks

Oooo I have not done Burkina Faso yet so thank you. Is the original in French do you know?

I really want The Land in Winter. Never read him but it sounds right up my street. Not heard of the other one. What did you like about it?
