Agatha Christie books are bestsellers for a reason - I'd start with literally anything except the Murder of Roger Ackroyd, and start with about 3 or so (Poirot if possible) and *then* move on to Ackroyd (it is her best but works best with others to compare it to).

Not technically fantasy, but you should check out A Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock. It just came out this year and it's a blend of science fiction and gothic - but don't let that spook you, it's set in Victorian England! I think you would enjoy thinking about Chloe.
