If you want better UI scaling and HDR/VRR support, Fedora's derivatives like Bazzite/Nobara can help. Apps can be installed through App store using Flatpak. And you pretty much don't need to use terminal/console at all.

Mint has experimental wayland support, but wasn't great the last time I tried it.
Besides HDR/VRR won't work on X11.
In your case, try a Wayland supporting distro like Fedora or its derivatives or even Arch-based CachyOS.
Your UI issues should be gone.

2 Repos from RPM Fusion: free and non-free have to installed. Can be done graphically using Store.
