A kind follow up on the “musicians are not rivals, we are a collective” reply I made in a @etherdiver.bsky.social thread: of course there are rivals, but most of them seem to be more personal grudges than artistic. Lennon and Jagger were friends, Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada were friends, etc.

uncharacteristic baseball news: the fact that the Seattle Mariners might go to the World Series has perked up my curiosity. The fact that they would be facing the Dodgers is worrisome, but nonetheless, I’d finally get to see a Mariners game on TV for the first time in 14 years! しかし、日本が大谷を大好きだ…

I think it’s time to re-evaluate the concept of good and evil. If people do evil things for “the greater good,” what’s even the point?

If we’re limiting ourselves to the English language, then M. Gira or Tom Waits.
I’m certain there’s probably a lyricist in a language I don’t speak that writes poetry better than 99% of mainstream English language musical acts.
