The emphasis of the rich kid persona in the new extra ruined SY for me ngl. The gall that he as a nepobaby acted surprised about XF (who has a teaching job btw) knowing a fundamental philosophical concept like existentialism. It's probably tongue-in-cheek but it reminds me so much of irl assholes.

Seeing things from SJ's perspective and sympathising with him are part of the original text. The fandom trying to act as if they're not has never sat right with me. They are doing it to cope with the horror of their char taking someone's body.

SJ in his pov extra is perfectly 3D. Perhaps YQY was a bit too npclike but I think that chapter and all the chapters where SJ's backstory were shown had already actualized the PIDW world. so the fandom and mxtx trying to force that world to have always been unhinged and lacking depth doesn't work.

Yeah, I've always found the SVSSS fandom a bit weird because of it. I don't know if other transmigration fandoms do it. But they act exactly spiritually i*raeli in how they want Shen QIngqiu's name, body and back-story but want to cast him out of them all.
