I'm with you. It burns me out in minutes. Without it, I feel like I could go for weeks. On the other hand, it's so much a part of my life that I can't imagine what it would be like to go for weeks without it.

Re-reading Le Guin's "Steering the Craft" at the moment. Ignore the fire for now. I'm hiding from it because if I even cast a glance, I'm blind for days for reading or writing.

While that won't work for me, I absolutely encourage this!

See? Persistence works.

90 is my goal before I crack open that document again to see if there are serious issues missed by my dev editor.

I'm sure those two in the image agree with you.

90 is where I blink and wonder if there's a problem that needs more polish.

I don't know, it might be distracting from the match if this happened in the midst of the pitch...

Which they will light on the searing metal trim of the steering wheel?

It's a commentary on American politics in a sign.

Also: the phrase is "toe the line" for anyone who cares.

I'm querying with an aim for tradpub, so I don't really have a timeline yet (I'm on day 3 of my first query for this work).

(This is not to say anything of the dozens and dozens of handwritten novels from the past 35 years or so ... which I have to say are mostly sci-fi.)

Generally, science fiction (the current query is cyberpunk), but I also have a portal fantasy (with dystopian and high magic vibes), and steampunk (more correctly a "clockpunk" historical fantasy with a few real-world events as the backdrop).

That bear glass is freaking adorable!

I mean ... if everything but the dollar is rising, then the dollar is by definition falling. Reframing the truth doesn't reframe reality. The dollar is hurting badly because falling to 7th to last place in 90 days from being in the top top 10 for a century... is not alarmist to call "shrink".

In my case, that the people disagreeing with me might actually be trying for something intellectual, rather than sounding like they're 12 and hurling funny names at me.

I'm guessing their gender bias may play into things. Maybe you should adopt a pen name like "Jack Burly" just to mess with them?

Also: happy birthday.

I'm all for artists' rights, but this kind of BS actually weakens the ability to legitimately use copyright, overall, by increasing the perception that copyright is only used for abusive practices like this. Then, when artists intentionally release permissions, they can't prevent other abuses.

My plumber didn't die, he stopped piping up.

My favorite author didn't die, it's just that there are no words.

Also: I'm buying you a whole case of water, my favorite author. I somehow failed to see that you were here instead on Brand X, which isn't as good.

I just wish he'd make the jump to Bluesky.
