I would recommend thinking about what it means to you specifically and try quantifying that instead, rather than trying to give a general explanation that encompasses your own experience because it's always going to feel subpar that way.

I think the problem here is really that it can mean different things to different people. Those sorts of things are always going to be hard to quantify to outsiders. Socially "normal" relationships have this dynamic too. A partner just can't understand why you're friends with this person, etc.
