Do you not realize how huge of an accomplishment 895 goals is in today's NHL?
It's one ceremony every 30+ years on average, and I HIGHLY DOUBT the players and fans had an issue to be part of history.

If the NHL wants to create more division rivalry, then have more division games.
This Wild card system doesn't benefit anyone but does deliver some disappointing second round match-up and to many repeat first round match up.
The thought of LA playing the Oilers again makes me sick.

The Avs never once told his camp they were done negotiations because you would of heard about it. They simply stopped communicating with him and started making phone calls.

Avs made their top offer of 11.6 AAV, Mikko says "hey I'm at market for 13.5 if we can do 12 I'll stay an Av", C-Mac starts taking phone calls and let's him talk to other teams, his agent thinks this is the Avs posturing and it wasn't.

Putting this all on mikkos camp while mikkos camp still thought negotiations were still on the table is an absured take. This is a business and this was just poor bussiness from both sides. Why could management just be honest with him? Instead of keeping him on the hook?

Expecting a player to remain loyal to your franchise while actively shopping and still "negotiating" with him is dirty work. Are you gonna hate on a guy for literally business done bad on both sides? Because that's pathetic imo

His camp thought this was a negotiation tactic, and the Avs never denied it was, or it wasn't. This is quite common for teams to do. They should've sat him down personally and let him know what the intentions were. Positive feedback doesn't mean shit if you still think your negotiating.

His agent didn't fuck around. His agent rejected the first offer, then C-Mac just stopped negotiation cold and started shopping him around without even consulting his camp first and then lied to Carolina about Mikko's intentions to sign with them. MacKinnon also did not take a discount 💀

11.75 million in Colorado isn't even comparable to 12 million in tax-free Texas. And as far as playing hardball, a negotiation works two ways, and it seems that Mikkos needs and wants were not considered. He wasn't even told he was being shopped.

Listen, i get it. Mitsy wasn't living up to the 2C expectations, and size matters in the post-season. But I felt this deal didn't make the Avalanche better, and we lost another pick. BUT Coyle did put up 60 points last year!
