Honestly, this should have been an easy one -- Christian supremacist denies wife's Hindu identity and pitches her as a future convert. Who wants to defend that, or at least act like it's no biggie?
As it turns out, far-right alliances are stronger, for some, than dignity and religious freedom.

This is one of the many harms of Hindu nationalists in the U.S.
They claim to represent all Hindu Americans and then largely promote other political ideas and, at times, act against Hindu American interests.
It makes it harder for everyone in this minority community.

(2) American Hindu nationalists willing to tolerate humiliation and the rollback of religious pluralism to an exceptional degree.
I find the humiliation enraging and difficult to watch. But it's the second bit on religious pluralism that sends a true chill down my spine.

(1) American Hindu nationalist groups have gotten basically nothing out of their alliances with the American Christian far-right. They've come up empty handed on key Hindutva issues.
Moreover, the Trump administration has undercut U.S. relations with BJP-run India, visas to the US, etc.

The most obvious key thing is that Hindu nationalist groups in the U.S. have strong representation in the Trump 2.0 government. They want to protect their political alliances.
That makes sense, except for two things...

Some of America's largest groups that claim to represent Hindu Americans actually represent Hindu nationalist interests.
I've said this 1,000 times before -- Hindu nationalists don't represent Hindu interests. We cannot make sense of their behavior if we conflate the two groups.
