Latest addition to the medieval section of the book shelves. ♥️

The best part is undeniably these stuffed animals and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, made for me as a child by my paternal grandmother.

Terribly exciting Saturday news. New bookshelves were delivered today! Now I have to actually organize the books. 😂

Update; found my Perrine!

It’s here, it’s here! @nemgarrett.bsky.social’s biography of Queen Charlotte has landed!

Also found this world lit anthology I only barely remember ever reading. Now, if I can just lay hands on my Perrine.

More importantly, I found my Norton!

I’ve been carting home books from their previous long-term storage (erm... my old bedroom at my folks’ place 😬) and I’m reminded that I used to buy a lot of books about writing, back when I wanted to be a professional academic. ♥️

My only contribution for #StandingStoneSunday

Addendum: played some more. Still weird, but maybe some use cases could present themselves. Didn’t hate this abstract sky/water scene. Have seen some geode paintings on mineral paper and may give one of those a try.

Grabbed a (water-based) market and that is super smooth on it.

I should acknowledge I bought a cheap pad of it to play with, so maybe it’s a case of getting what I paid for. 🤷‍♀️

Back to the Arches paper I go!

Super, super smooth — smoother than any hot-rolled paper I’ve used (and generally, I prefer cold-rolled — I love the texture). Nice, vibrant color, but it definitely pools. Dries pretty quickly.

Quite possibly the best thing about art. ♥️

Now that all of my Christmas cards are done, I’m going to revisit my attempt to paint this.

New rule: all meetings are made better when one wears a Tudor rose lapel pin.

@sixteenthcgirl.bsky.social Submitted as evidence of my previous assertion. (Arrived this afternoon, looking forward to reading through it this season.)

The only reason I don’t color code is because I will never remember what they meant.

Also, I only highlight in this relatively neutral color, so it’s not distracting if I re-read for pleasure or to find something new.

Relatedly, I now go through a LOT of sticky tabs. 😂

First batch of 2024 Christmas cards is out the door! Have a few more to finish up for mailing and a bunch to hand deliver, but these have the farthest to travel and need the time.
♥️🎄
