Believe me, I had to think hard before I ‘pressed the key.’

Sadly; generating outage pays & that’s what HEAVY / SEND is about.

It’s not a knock against any one political party or a dig at any group or individual.

It’s an overarching observation & hopefully that’s how it is perceived.

Any topic (be it genuine or not) is fuel to the social media fire & generates clicks, cash for originators & dopamine hits to those who propagate it.

And then there are online grifters & influencers who shout loud & promise solutions. But do they really have any?

We want to believe the information we see is factual & true because if it wasn’t there will be regulatory consequences.

But,that’s a fallacy. Clicks generate traffic, usage generates advertising revenue & real regulation on the major platforms is often non existent.

Nothing seems to work. We all have less money in our pockets, yet 110 Billionaires were created in 2024 as services are cut & household bills rise. Ordinary people are justifiably pissed off with it.

Under these conditions, it’s very easy to become enraged.

It doesn’t help that we currently live in a time where our cost of living is high & we see decay, crime & social unease everywhere.

Those words became lodged into my memory.

The melody took shape in June 2024 & the lyrics began life as a retelling of the above story but evolved into an observation of social media toxicity.

How easy it is to read a post or story online which may be untrue, but makes us compelled to react?

The email contained lots of nods to ‘benefits to our business’ & ‘career progression’ but came across as platitudinous & cold rather than businesslike & well intentioned.

“F@£king hell” he said “that must have been a heavy send!”

I’d never heard the term before, but a friend & fellow manager used it after we’d both received a copy of a rather brutal email that was sent out by a senior manager to a team of employees whose offices & jobs were all being shut down.
