Trump’s attempt to fix the next election by gerrymandering his way to continued control of a compliant GOP House does direct harm to Texas families.

I joined Leader Jeffries, and Congressional and State colleagues at our Texas Capitol to reject Trump’s power grab.

Texas' proposed congressional map would push a handful of Democratic incumbents into nearby districts already occupied by another Democrat, leaving some with the prospect of battling each other for the dwindling seats in next year’s primaries, retiring, or taking their chances in GOP districts.

Texas politicians are attempting to create unfair voting districts to hold onto power.

Voters pick their elected leaders, not the other way around.

Tomorrow, in room E1.030 of the State Capitol, sometime before noon, I will testify against Trump’s re-redistricting map that dismembers Travis County to ensure the GOP keeps its lock on a compliant, complacent Congress.

Yesterday, more than 50 people were arrested by Capitol police for protesting the proposed cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential lifelines. These cuts will cause immense harm to disabled and multiply marginalized people. Among those arrested was our Governmental Affairs Liaison, Carol.
