Following people who post about bugs are an excellent litmus test for who to block.

Love that my school is next to a big wetland full of trails.
So nice to be surrounded by nature, shade and the rustling/whirring/scuttling of wildlife whenever I need to stretch my legs.

A Worden orb.

There were juncos all over the batteries.

We visited Fort Worden and Fort Flagler State Parks but I was more interested in the #invertebrates, having seen the ruins many times now.

Visiting Port Townsend for a couple days!
The apocalyptic smoke cloud stretching over the Olympics is very visible from the waterfront.

We checked out a river access point close to the bridge, scoping out potential swimming spots to share with friends!
That’s all for now, I’ll post more when I visit another spot on the river 🏞️

The bubbling geyser is still very active, I forgot how surreal it is that the calcium carbonate flows with the current in strands like hair!

There were a few little boulder islands in the middle of the current with turf and flowers growing on them!
One had a bunch of asters.

Saw a Dipper!
Not the best video, but it captures the cute little bobbing dance they do.
One of my favorite #nativebirds, I always look for them when we visit a big enough stream or river and they never disappoint.
So cute!

Further down on the river trail, there are little bits of the unique and beautiful sandstone cliffs peeking through the firs on the opposite bank!

Someone squashed a bunch of slugs along the early bit of the river trail, attracting Narrow-Collared Snail-Eating Beetles.
This one was so focused on the buffet it ignored me completely.
These guys are shy, skittish and fast, it’s usually hard to get photos of them!

Farting Geyser State Park 💨

The methane-releasing exploratory well that gives the park its namesake isn’t actually “flaming” anymore.
It ran too dry to put in a show around 2016.
A flaming gasbag got elected that year, it probably gave up because it couldn’t compete.

Thread: Been visiting spots along the Green River lately!
It’s a beautiful river, and the source of our county’s drinking water.
CW: includes bug and spider pictures, please mute/filter terms accordingly.
Starting with our Labor Day weekend visit to Flaming Geyser State Park

It’s been cool and rainy, there were chorus frogs of all sizes and colors.
We had to watch our step.
