In the day-to-day grind working with a team, dealing with inevitable challenges, its easy to lose sight of the wins

Today I checked into the IWI site and saw a snapshot of the incredible content the team has created over the past week and a half. Amazing!

Forthcoming publication by David Logan and I shows indirect conflicts (aka proxy wars) have increased significantly since 2000, while MIDs (low intensity direct conflicts) have remained relatively constant.

Great power competition == proxy warfare

Huge career announcement! I have decided to leave the active duty Army and begin a civilian career - my final day of active service will be in June 2026.

I plan to pursue opportunities in the private sector while continuing my service in the Army Reserves.

Pretty cool to receive in the mail.

If you don't speak Latin, the text roughly translates to:

"I spent six years stressed out of my mind, and all I got in return was this piece of paper"

Impressive to watch the advance of energy and battery technologies

Big implications for NATSEC

"On an LCOE basis, 91% of newly commissioned utility-scale renewable capacity delivered power at a lower cost than the cheapest new fossil fuel-based alternative."

Machiavelli wrote “once the populace has taken up arms, there will always be a foreign power eager to come to its aid”

Proxy warfare & SFA 4-eva!

Almost like it is a common tool of statecraft.

Favorite quote: "Above all, IW demands partnerships and informing, supporting, and enabling others." Yes, IW is a team sport!

Remember when Ken Waltz endorsed this craziness?

“The slow spread of nuclear weapons [which] gives states time to learn to live with them, to appreciate their virtues, and to understand the limits they place on behaviour”
