Figure 1 from the NYNJHATS report is a map of the study area -- NYC metro plus up the Hudson River. Sea level projections for The Battery NYC for 2020-2080 range from 0.5 foot to 4 feet.

#climatechange caused the #temperature of 2024 to be 0.1degC warmer than 2023 and 0.25degC warmer than any year prior to that.

Timeseries of the main global temperature aggregators NASA GISS, Hadley, NOAA NCEI, Berkeley, ERA5, DCENT showing global temperature anomalies to 1981-2000 quite a lot of spread at 1880 (-0.4 to -0.8) but agreement that 2024 was just shy of 1degC Likelihood that 2024 was warmer that 1.5degC compared to 1850-1900 baseline. 6 analyses are ‘right at’ that level of warming with half above and half below and all within the uncertainty margin leave Berkeley. All surface temperature products for 2024 are now live. All show 2024 is the warmest year (very clearly). The estimates of the change since the pre-industrial (1850-1900) are more uncertain but range from 1.46 to 1.62ºC. It is therefore *likely* this was the first year that exceeded 1.5ºC. There are a lot of numbers floating around - but the uncertainties on each of them is different. Here's a handy cheat sheet: Recent annual anomaly w.r.t. a modern baseline: ±0.05ºC Recent ann. anom. w.r.t. pre-industrial: ±0.1-0.2ºC Absolute global temperature: ±0.3ºC (-ish) The graph from @rarohde.bsky.social at Berkeley Earth is useful for addressing whether it's likely that we crossed the 1.5ºC level:
