Stories still have value.

Am I supposed to clutch some pearls here? I’m Jewish, and I’m an atheist. We actually get to be both. I view the Bible as a book of STORIES. These stories are SUPPOSED to help us be good people. And it is maddening that all of this evil, which is NOT JUDAISM is justified by people claiming it is.

Shit like this doesn’t help anything.

Because those are the tenants of our religion and our culture. And it is painful and enraging to see them twisted by extremists.

That’s why SO MANY OF US ARE SPEAKING OUT FOR PALESTINE PEOPLE.

We are needed in this battle. Jews are needed to stand up for Palestinians as our duty as Jews.

When Jews celebrate Passover, we have a prayer of mourning for those plagues, because a Jew cannot celebrate when others suffer.

There are ways of using our tenets to push for peace for the stranger, and to remind ourselves that if one person is in chains the Jew is not free.

The final plague was murder of the first born, which mirrored the Pharaoh’s murder of the first born males of the Israelite slaves. That’s how Moses got in the basket in the first place, to avoid being murdered by the Pharaoh’s men.

The blood was show the slaves homes so they might be passed over.

This this this! There is NOTHING in Judaism that supports the actions of the Israeli government.
