If memory serves, we did this song and dance with the original Switch as well. At least this update isn't bricking consoles using third-party docks like the 5.0.0 one did.
This is most likely a case of third-party docks being out of spec rather than Nintendo messing with them on purpose.

They technically hold a patent on an implementation of a mechanic, not the mechanic itself. Game mechanics are not patentable in the U.S., or anywhere else in the world that I know of.

The combat didn't age well (tbh it sucked at the time too), but anyone who likes action adventures and still hasn't played this should find it well worth 2 bucks. Absolutely magical experience, the time rewinding mechanic blew my mind back then, especially given how it's integrated into the story

This is like... ~500+ games in one pic? Impressive, I've given up on collecting physical games around 2017, I'll buy the odd collector's edition but I just don't have the room to rent for all the games

Meh, they were pretty open about the beta not having traditional anti-cheat. Secure Boot is an UEFI firmware feature, *not* an anti-cheat, though it might be required by some anti-cheat software
