I’m having to tell myself that they were. Hard to be friends if they weren’t decent. Their fear got the best of them, and fear causes a slippery slope. It’s not an excuse, but it just means that their feelings got the better of them and they lost their ground. It sucks.

I think a bit of both. They always had these thoughts and feelings but they didn’t have anyone to back them up and were often ignored if they did leading to not believing wrong stuff as long. The internet fuels idiocy from people saying no to them and people saying yes to them.
