The only cause of severe attachment pathology (a child rejecting a parent) is child abuse by one parent or the other.
In ALL cases of court-involved custody conflict involving a child rejecting a parent, a risk assessment for child abuse is needed to the differential diagnoses for each parent.

There is no defined pathology in clinical psychology called "parental alienation" - this is a euphemism for child abuse of a made-up pathology label that HIDES the child abuse from view, HIDES the child abuse from the Court's understanding, and PREVENTS effective treatment for the child abuse.
