No problem! Just take it with a grain of salt because it's been awhile since I've watched the Predator movies (ㆁωㆁ)

Yeah me too. I was so confused lore wise when I watched Killer of Killers, because half the terms I heard in that movie completely confused me. ( ̄ヘ ̄;)

Also, I responded to myself explaining it a bit more so I think that might help? But other than that I have no idea when we "officially" started calling the Predator species Yautja.

Honestly...I don't really know either. I've noticed the term got more popular when Killer Of Killers came out, but I don't really know when it exactly started. So I just assumed the name grew more popular when Killer Of Killers released. (๑•﹏•)

And because of the recent uptick in the popularity of the Predator franchise (with Predator: Killer of Killers and future release of Predator: Badlands) A lot of more people started coining the name Yautja to reference the Predator species.

The name for the predator species Yautja was used in Alien VS Predator: Prey and people just.... adopted it as the official species name. It's not used in the movies, but it's used mostly in the comic book series, novels and video games.

Oh lol, around 1994 when Steve Perry released his novelization of the comic book series Alien VS Predator.
June 14, 2025 at 8:28 PM
That's because the Predators official species name is Yautja (Yah-oot-Jah). Predator is the franchise name. (*´ω`*)
