Oh yeah, 2010 pissed me off too! And yeah nobody needs 3 hrs of trippy SF, but I loved those 3 trippy hours of SF ;) what's life for if not to savor 3 hrs of awesomeness? But to each their own obviously!

What?! I loved that movie!!! I was 16 when it came out, I saw it a dozen times, once tripping on acid. To me, the ending was that Bowman had been guided by the aliens to the next evolutionary stage of humanity, and was returned to Earth to guide the rest of us. Man to Superman....

An animated Grinch parody short, or Santa responds to hate mail, or a reverse time-twist "It's A Horrible Life" or citizens battling ICE a la "Night of the Living Dead"...... maybe those are all stupid ideas but brainstorming involves shotgunning ideas till something promising evolves....

Why is it unlikely, and how would we know when and where to check? For instance, I don't bother to ask an ai anything involving facts because they invent things more often than not, in my experience.

If the agent can be programmed and can so readily hallucinate on this level, what's stopping it from hallucinating various chunks of programming all the time?

I keep wondering why John Lithgow signed on. Maybe he lives in a rarified bubble where all this only dimly registers. John Cleese wrote recently that he didn't spend much time thinking about trans people... I suppose this is all some distant obscure and irrelevant brouhaha to a lot of people.......?
