The 2025 Civil Defence History Network Workshop in Bern 🇨🇭 Somewhere on the train from Geneva, I lost my voice, so yesterday I held my first ever Silent Oral Presentation, fittingly on the topic of sound and sirens and featuring music, gestures and images. 😅

CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Best possible location for the ECREA Communication History Workshop 2025 on the theme of networks. Why? Because World Wide Web was founded here. First panel with three of its founding fathers, Robert Cailliau, Francois Flückiger and Pier Giorgio Innocenti.

Fascinating cross-disciplinary perspectives in today’s conference celebrating ”20 years of Sound Environments” at Lund University. I was honoured to be invited to speak about my #airraidsirens. And then we all took a refreshing #soundbath, led by artist Tina Quartey.

Never too late for a two-day crash course on the biblical apocalyptic imaginary. 📖 This Cold War historian’s head is now filled with the Book of Daniel, the Book of Revelation, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. So happy to learn from my competent colleagues in the RJ program #attheendoftheworld

Lund 10-11 okt. Magnus Hjort från MPF inledde och ministern för civilt försvar Carl-Oskar Bohlin avrundade den första svenska forskningskonferensen om psykförsvar. Eller 2000-talets första iaf. På 1950-talet hölls ju liknande konferenser. Något för framtidens vetenskapshistoriker att studera.
