Oh look, I wrote something. Froberg followed by Albini, be it real or imagined, felt like the end of something. The reality that there would never be another Shellac show. No more trips on Southwest Chief to see a hypothetical Drive Like Jehu show at The Bottom Lounge. I am now an elder, not a peer.

These were discontinued for 20 years. Albums that came out in 2005: The Hold Steady’s Separation Sunday. Deehoof’s The Runners Four. Lightning Bolt’s Hypermagic Mountain. And those two System of a Down records that weren’t as good as Toxicity.

Don’t ever sell a record that you won’t be able to afford to buy again until you’re a grown-ass man. Plus, I probably bought a Nitzer Ebb or KMFDM CD with the trade.

What do you do when you release the retail version of your $2500 book about the making of The Shining? Cut the length and width by half, shrink it in size from three volumes to two. (8 pounds instead of 40) and sell it for $100.
