Early voting numbers are coming in for the Georgia Public Service Commission Districts 2 and 3. As of 7:31 p.m., Alicia Johnson leads Tim Echols with 60.3% of the vote. Peter Hubard leads Fitz Johnson , also with 60.3% of the vote.

NEW: Journalist Mario Guevara released from ICE custody on bail.

Guevara’s Spanish-language news outlet, MG News, and the law firm representing him, Diaz & Gaeta, broke the news in a Facebook post, following a scheduled bail hearing before a federal immigration judge.

This week, the Atlanta City Council approved pay raises for the mayor, council president, and the council members. Only Councilmembers Michael Julian Bond and Andrea Boone voted against the increase.
City Council: $72,630 to $99,930
Council President: $74,000 to $103,250
Mayor: $202,730 to $236,865

The Atlanta City Council's Committee on Council will deliberate today on a bill to curtail the Office of the Inspector General. It passed the Finance Executive Committee last week on a 5-2 vote.

We anticipate the committee chairs will call for a work session to further hash out the legislation.

In Florida, active OIG investigations are exempt from disclosure to both the OIG’s city or county leaders and the public. “I have the obligation not to inform either management or the public about an ongoing investigation,” said John Carey, Palm Beach County’s IG.

• Requiring targets of investigations to be notified
• Limiting public release of findings

🤔 The idea of public transit expansion is appealing to metro residents—but when paired with an additional sales tax, enthusiasm wanes sharply. In metro Atlanta, 66% of residents say improved transit is very important to them, but only 13.2% say they’d strongly agree to tax themselves to fund it.

Voters in two of metro Atlanta's largest counties said "No" to funding local transit expansion. Now, Cobb and Gwinnett leaders and transit advocates are devising a plan B. Both counties have experienced tremendous growth. As the urbanist adage goes, You’re not stuck in traffic; you are traffic.
